Going, Going, Braun! Exiting Star Feels "So Much Sadness"
Tamara Braun, who will tape her final scenes as Carly in late March, speaks to Soaps In Depth about her decision to leave GENERAL HOSPITAL.
The In Depth Story: Braun these days is coming to terms with her decision to leave the show on whose front burner she has lived for almost four years. "I've known what I was going to do, but I had to keep it to myself," she shares at a photo shoot for an upcoming In Depth cover. "But now that it's out, there is a lot more sadness that I feel. People at work who didn't know are coming up to me and saying 'What?!' They're shocked. There is a gearing up for good-byes which I am not looking forward to."
Yet there also is a relief, now that Braun's exit- her send-off is slated to air just before May sweeps- no longer is top-secret. "It feels good to be open and honest," she sighs. "There is almost a sense of calm now, a sense of closure." All abetted by the support that she now can enjoy from cast mates. "Everyone is telling me that they'll miss me, and the feeling is mutual. It's all love."
What exactly fueled Braun's decision? Could ABC have done anything to keep her? And how did she feel about some of the rumors that circulated as she pondered re-signing? The actress reveals all in a candid interview appearing in the next ABC Soaps in Depth, on sale March 29.
