April 14, 2004 – Los Angeles – Maher Kawar, executive director of Evening Stars Productions announced the 2nd Annual event to be held on Sunday, September 12th, 2004. The Ivar in Hollywood will again host Evening with the Stars, a benefit to raise funds & increase awareness about the Desi Geestman Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to helping families with children battling cancer. The event will provide the opportunity for fans and celebrities to meet and mingle in a friendly and organized atmosphere.

Over 50 celebrities will be present to meet and greet fans. Other opportunities include a silent auction where fans can see items from their favorite television shows and films sold to the highest bidder, as well as set tours and professional make-overs.

DGF, celebrities, television networks, studios, TRC Entertainment, The Ivar, and Evening Stars Productions are all donating their time and resources for the cause. “The Desi Geestman Foundation is such a worthy cause, and their message – helping children stricken by cancer and their families – has resonated with and been taken to heart by the entertainment community,” says Mr. Kawar. “Last year’s event was very successful; we achieved our goals and exceeded our expectations.”

Tony Geary, Maurice Benard, Vanessa Marcil, Tamara Braun, Alexis Thorpe, Tyler Christopher, Sean Kanan, Alicia Leigh Willis, Kristoff St. John and Cynthia Preston are among some of the celebrities who lent their support to Evening with the Stars in 2003. Cynthia Preston, General Hospital’s Faith Rosco, said, “It was an amazing evening; celebrities and the fans had a great time. We were able to build a higher awareness for children’s cancer issues.”

The Desi Geestman Foundation (DGF) is a non-profit 501c3 organization that works in association with the Pediatric Department at the City of Hope assisting families with children battling cancer. The DGF provides support in the form of practical necessities, such as: phone cards, clothing, gas cards, lodging, food, and travel. Medical contributions by the Foundation have come in the form of blood drives, bone marrow registry, medical equipment and other medically related volunteer work. The DGF provides moral support to patients and families by providing a caring support system; this, in turn, lifts many of the burdens of health care and its attendant stresses from patients and patient families, and provides more room for recovery and wellness.
